At 6 weeks of pregnancy, your baby has webbing between their fingers and toes. During the next few weeks, the webbing will disappear and the fingers and toes will grow longer and less stubby. By 12 weeks, your baby will have their own unique fingerprint and can start to curl their fingers and toes.
During the first trimester, your baby’s nail development begins. Baby’s fingernails form at 12 weeks, and then at 17 weeks of pregnancy, your baby’s toenails begin developing.
During your third trimester, your baby’s fingernails and toenails have gotten much longer. The fingernails will reach their fingertips at 34 weeks, and baby’s toenails are right behind, reaching the tip of their toes at 38 weeks. (Get those infant nail clippers ready!)
